Hackers now are also targeting the now declared as the global pandemic COVID-19, or novel coronavirus. And many coronavirus tracking apps are found to be a part of the scam.
Due to the sudden outbreak of the disease people in more & more numbers are searching for information about the disease.
And the hackers etc, are taking advantage of it.
And now UN health agency also warns against the COVID-19(Coronavirus) scams.
According to the UN health agency, anyone who is posing as WHO representatives, and recommends that, if anyone is contacting by a person or organization claiming to be from the Organization, they should take steps to verify their authenticity.
According to check-point since January 2020, there have been over 4,000 coronavirus-related domains registered globally.
The scammers will send you an e-mail in which they will warn about the situation & it contains an attachment of a malicious document file. And when you click on “enable editing” or “enable content” a trojan or malicious file will be downloaded into your system.
You should always be very careful about opening attachments, especially if they come from an email address you don’t recognize.

Also, WHO firmly states that it never does any of these things, and warns that scams can come in the form of emails, websites, phone calls, text messages, and even fax messages.
The CISA(The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), also warns individuals to remain vigilant for scams related to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

HOW TO BE SAFE FROM SUCH SCAMS
- Ignore incoming calls and texts from unknown numbers.
- If the e-mails say that they are from a Govt. health agency or any reputed organization, then first of all check and verify it.
- Do, not reveal personal or financial information in e-mails.
- Open e-mails from a sender you know and trust.
