Indian govt. banned nearly 59 apps, along with famous TikTok application which are originated from China.
The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking its power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
Law, justice and information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday tweeted:
According to a report, 27 of these 59 apps were among the top 1,000 Android apps in India.
Here is the list:
WHY THESE CHINESE APPS ARE BANNED
1-The apps are banned because the IT cell of the Indian Govt. has suspicions on some apps that they misuse users data.
2-Among the rising tensions between India & China, people are angry about China and wanted to ban the apps. With China stabbing in the back of India in Galwan in the Laddakh region in Jammu & Kashmir, people in India are angry about China.
In many cities and towns, people are breaking TV sets and mobiles made in China, and encouraging awareness to boycott Chinese goods and apps.
3- Recently, famous YouTubers such as Carryminati and Sonam Wangchuk (engineer) & film actress Kangana Ranaut also addressed the people to Boycott Chinese goods and apps.
4- The Indian Govt. wants to warn China that now we can not tolerate more than this. As said by honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi: We want peace, but any country dares to challenge our sovereignty and territorial integrity, we will give a swift reply.
5-In some TikTok videos animal cruelty, racism, nudity, child abuse, etc are reported which are not suitable for a larger audience.
6- According to security agencies, some Pakistani or enemy spies try to use this platform and it is a huge security risk for individuals and the country.
7-Earlier TikTok application was also banned by Madras(Chennai) High court for some time. Some child abuse was reported and so the High Court has taken the action.
8- A minister in the parliament said that they are sharing all their data with the “Chinese companies as well as with the Chinese Government,” which can be dangerous.
9- Earlier UC browser is said to have to send data to Chinese servers. But, still, it is one of the most downloaded browsers of India. And many people in Tier 2 or Tier 3 cities use it is lot.
10-So, that the Indian Govt, has decided to do a digital strike on China.
