Gaming is a word that induces endorphins into our minds. So, here are my thoughts on smartphone gaming [2022-2025].
In 2021, there were 3.9 Billion smartphone users worldwide.
By 2023 there will be 3.7 Billion mobile players worldwide.
And the player spend is set to reach $138 Billion by 2025.
With the increase in technology, games have also evolved & now we can play many addictive and console-quality games(few) on smartphones.
If we check the history then we see that the first gamin centric phone was rolled out in 2003, was Nokia Ngage.
And now we have a lot of gaming smartphones and even attachable gamepads and game triggers and other accessories.
1- Nowadays many new games are launching based on their PC counterparts or many popular PC games are launching games for Android/iOS primarily for smartphones.
Why?
Because they want to catch a more big audience and people can also enjoy playing these games as many of them can not afford PC/Consoles.
For example-
-Final Fantasy
-Call of Duty Mobile
-Apex Legends
-Stardew Valley
-Diablo Immortal(In Pre-Registration)
– Star Wars games e.g. Star Wars Hunters
-PUBG
-Battlefield(In Pre-registration)
-DC games
-Marvel games
-Baba is You etc.
And many more are coming in this time period from 2022 to 2025.
I think at this time only COD Mobile has rightly adopted the smartphones screens. Other games to push more for giving authentic experience for smartphones.
2- The gaming on smartphones or mobiles is increased.
In fact, the mobile/smartphone gaming market is expected to register a CAGR(compound annual growth rate) of 12.3% during the forecast period, 2021-2026.
3- There is currently the trend of Battle Royale games and Clash of Clans type games.
In fact, 62% of Indians playing games on smartphones prefer PUBG(BGMI) over other games.
And most importantly they spend a lot of money on the Battle Royale games and they come with new seasons every month.
And it is the main source of the revenue of Battle Royale games.
4- In the future, there will be a trend of shooting and sports games, the current trend is Puzzle and Action games according to statistics.
I am saying it in my opinion.
5- I think the current COVID situation and lockdown situation has affected a lot in gaming.
The number of gamers has increased.
The number of hours played and streaming time has improved a lot since COVID and people are playing a lot of games.
But, it is reversed in the case of PlayStation.
Due to the shortage of chips and supply of components, not too many PlayStations were manufactured and thus there is a shortage of the latest generation gaming consoles.
6- Smartphone gaming has created a huge market for itself in developing countries like India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria, Egypt, Iran, Thailand, China, Brazil, Argentina, Kenya, etc.
7- Developed countries have the purchasing power and undeveloped countries have population.
Since people of developed countries can afford and have money they can buy any gadgets.
As they play on smartphones and iPhones & iPads less because they can play on PC/consoles.
But, people of undeveloped countries don’t have much money to buy gaming PCs, laptops, or consoles and their population is also huge.
But, they can afford smartphones. So, there is a huge market for gaming and games in developing countries, and games like PUBG(BGMI) and Call of Duty Mobile have proven this thing in countries like India.
8- More PC titles I want to see on Android & iOS are from the Halo franchise, COD Warzone, and other games.
Also, some new RPG games are based on Monster Hunter or Skyrim type large gameplay.
And games from Resident Evil franchise, Far Cry franchise, good Super Mario game like on Nintendo devices, quality GTA game, and new FIFA games, etc.
I also want to see some new indie games as these developers have the greatest ideas.
9- Another thing is that the increased competition and good hardware have made the players increase their skills.
That is either they have to adopt a 3-4 finger claw or increase their skills and network also.
Skills really matter nowadays.
10- The good internet connection was earlier a privilege for developed countries but now with the development of 5G and Jio Fibre and other Fibre technologies and services, people of undeveloped I mentioned earlier can also enjoy good connectivity and thus gaming.
And their ping is now low and has a solid uncluttered net connection. So that they can beat international top players also.
11- In the upcoming years, we will see a rapid increase in cloud gaming.
That is we don’t have to buy expensive consoles or PCs, we can enjoy games anywhere on our smartphones and devices with a subscription-like Netflix.
The games will run cloud data.
Of course, these gaming services are paid for. Some cloud gaming services are Google Stadia, PlayStation Now, NvediaGeForce Now, Vortex, Shadow, etc.
12- The best gaming smartphones right now are iPhone 13 Pro Max, Asus Rog 5, Motorolla Edge 30 Pro, iQOO 9 pro, Nubia Red Magic 7, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Oppo FindX5 Pro etc.
Plus you can also do gaming on mid-range smartphones.
13- Best Games on Smartphones right now are:
-Call of Duty Mobile
-Garena Free Fire
-PUBG/BGMI
-Angry Birds Journey
-Temple Run
– Genshin Impact
-GRID Autosport
– Pokemon Go
– Alien Isolation
-Summer Catchers
– The Room Series
-Shadow Fight games
-Baba is You
-Stardew Valley
-Star War Hunters
-Another Eden etc.
14- If we see Battle Royale games we will also see many new seasons and in fact a new season every month.
And they maintain interest in players and gamers.
As in every new season, some new characters, guns, etc, are introduced and bugs are fixed.
So, gamers and players eagerly wait for seasons and spend money also.
15- With the increase in games, Battle Royale games, and other competitive games a lot of hackers also have increased.
And this spoils the joy of gaming and the character.
Be a man of character and valor and don’t cheat.
From a report, over 1 million gamers are exposed to hackers. But, the good thing is that these games push updates and ban the accounts they found.
CONCLUSION
So, those are my thoughts on smartphone gaming [2022-2025].
Remember 10 years ago there was not any smartphone gaming industry in undeveloped countries and also in developed countries.
Even Android was in its newest state.
But, in these 10 years, rapid development has been done in smartphones technology and the Android operating system.
So, I think in the upcoming 5 years we see a great development in the gaming sector and are able to enjoy high-quality games as we enjoy in Consoles and PCs.
