In an inspection, Quick heal security labs have discovered 29 malicious apps. Later, they are removed from the Play Store. These apps have over 1M+ collective installs.
In these 29 apps, 24 apps are from ‘HiddAd’ category. These apps hide the icon after the first launch and create a shortcut on the home screen of the page.
Later it is difficult to uninstall them and then to delete them.
The other 5 apps were the of ‘Adware’ category. They would generally get into your Android phones through advertisements. Users will see different advertisements of them on different social media sites like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc, which promote different mobile applications.
The ‘Adware’ apps pretend to offer the functionality of the magnifying view. But, in reality, these apps show heavy advertisements on users devices.
“Right after the launch, these applications open the camera and show various options like flashlight, gallery, etc. But when the user chooses an option, these apps start full-screen ads, with no option to close or skip,” the company added.
